WFWP Austria, 'Free China' Screening

January 22, 2014

WFWP Austria, 'Free China' Screening, 22 Jan 2014Av WFWP Europe -  FOREF and the Austrian Womens’ Federation for World Peace hosted the movie “Free Chine – the Courage to believe” in a private movie screening . The documentary “FREE CHINA – The Courage to Believe” tells the impressive stories of two people who resisted the Communist Regime and stood up for their beliefs. Because of their convictions they were imprisoned and tortured. As the experiences of the protagonists are typical of hundreds of thousands of political prisoners in China this film elucidates the abuse behind China’s facade of economic wealth. It shows the extensive impacts of employment and production practices as well as product security of commodities that we import from China. The film “FREE CHINA – The Courage to Believe” is a co-production of NTD Television and producer Michael Perlman who has won six main awards at international film festivals. It isa remarkably stirring film. Two members of the Austrian Falun Gong group had contacted Mrs. Renate Amesbauer, because they were looking for a chance to show the movie in Vienna, after they had presented it successfully at the Womens’ Federation in Linz. It was decided that FOREF would provide the framework for the evening. In his introduction Mr. Peter Zöhrer explained about the importance of defending Human Rights, specially the right of religious freedom. For the last ten years he had been working through FOREF to fight for religious freedom and to support the human rights of various groups in society. After the movie presentation, which was attended by 35 people, the two members of Falun Gong explained more details about the persecution of Falun Gong members in China. It was a very informative evening!
