WFWP Sweden - Empowered by the Arts, no. 2

Under the common theme: Empowered by the arts-United for Peace, a second cultural event was held

in Tensta, Stockholm 30 th August, gathering about 40 men and women from various background.

Among participants were people from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, East Turkistan, Bangladesh,

Afghanistan, Palestine, Somalia, Japan, Korea and Sweden.

The focus was on the Uigur people, the culture and the struggle to survive in East Turkistan. After Britta Houston welcomed everybody and gave a

presentation about WFWP, the president for the Swedish Uigur Union, Bahtinor Abudureyimu

presented the prominent scholars and musicians. It turned out to be a very educational and inspiring

event ending with a handicraft exhibition display.
