Event to give financial support to a school in Johannesburg. Contribute to educational efforts
in South Africa and at the same time be educated about different cultures and living
circumstances.
On the 28th of Sept Wfwp-Sweden launched a fundraising-project for a school in South
Africa with the name “Oxford Little Angels” The Founder and Principle of the School is
Noella Marceline, an energetic and dedicated mother of three small children but an
extra mom for so many more as she started this school in Johannesburg in her home
after arriving in South Africa as a refugee from Kongo.
Noella is a member of WFWP in South Africa and has worked together with her mother
Claudine Mwakini there before Claudine moved to Sweden with her husband. Claudine
is currently the vice president of WFWP in Sweden.
As the name of the school states Noella wants to inspire the children to aim high, to
believe that the future is open for them. Many come from other countries in Africa and
do not have the same access to education and other rights that native South African
children have.
A big suitcase of colorful laser-prints were given to Wfwp Sweden earlier this summer
as a donation and that is how the idea of starting the fund-raising project to support
the school in Johannesburg came about. The final decision for the launch was made
the day before when Britta Houston, Wfwp-Sweden president met up wfwp members
in Stockholm.
Noella had put together a beautiful video about the school that was shown in
Stockholm. Participation and viewing extended to other countries as well in the North
Region by zoom.
