Mitty Tohma, President of Women’s Federation for World Peace Europe & Middle East, conducted a three-day visit to Ireland aimed at encouraging local members and strengthening regional partnerships.

The visit began with an informal fish-and-chips supper, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere where members could reconnect and share local priorities with regional leadership. The gathering provided an important opportunity for fellowship, dialogue, and encouragement.

A key highlight of the visit was the participation of four WFWP representatives at the Monaghan Peace Campus for the launch of Imagine an Island, a Threads of Peace creative writing project. The initiative focuses on women’s lived experiences, exploring themes such as motherhood, borders, identity, and resilience. The project demonstrated how personal testimony and storytelling can become powerful tools for reconciliation and peacebuilding.

The delegation also visited the Project Children 50th anniversary exhibition, gaining insight into the long-term impact of sustained community engagement and peace-focused initiatives.

Throughout the visit, Mitty Tohma shared strategic examples and successful initiatives from across the Europe & Middle East region, encouraging Women’s Federation for World Peace Ireland to further expand its leadership and community-building activities.

The visit affirmed WFWP Ireland’s growing role as an important convener for dialogue, cooperation, and peacebuilding, while also identifying practical opportunities to deepen community impact through funded partnerships and trust-based creative facilitation.
