WFWP Italy - Celebrating Family and Peace on the International Day of Parents

On 1 June, the UN International Day of Parents, WFWP Padua and WFWP Italy celebrated family values by honoring the nation's first-born child as a Little Ambassador of Peace. Held in the Council Chamber of Colleferro City Hall near Rome, the ceremony continued a tradition that has inspired families for nearly 30 years.
Welcoming the parents, relatives, and guests, the event highlighted the vital role of the family in nurturing future generations. Flora Grassivaro, who founded the initiative, spoke of her hope that each first-born child will grow up remembering their symbolic role as a citizen of the world and an ambassador for peace. WFWP Italy President Elisabetta Nistri also praised the courage of parents in today's challenging world, emphasizing that the family remains the foundation for love, personal growth, and lasting relationships. The ceremony served as a joyful celebration of parenthood, family, and the hope that the next generation will help build a more peaceful world.
