On Saturday, 11 April, WFWP Malta Chairperson Myrabelle Corlett and Charmaine Mifsud, together with several WFWP Malta supporters, participated in a clean-up initiative organized by ZIBEL, Malta’s leading marine conservation NGO, at the Ta’ Xbiex Marina.

ZIBEL’s mission is to support Malta’s long-term environmental well-being through education, improved waste management practices, and increased public awareness.

The clean-up operation was divided into three groups: the Coast Team, Snorkelers, and Divers. WFWP Malta volunteers assisted in sorting and collecting items recovered from the seabed by professional divers. Waste collected included rubber tires, ropes, plastic and glass bottles, torn nets, old engines, metal scraps, and pipes.

All participants worked together cooperatively to achieve the day’s goal. In total, more than 2.7 tons of waste were collected and sorted, with most of it to be recycled or repurposed where possible.

WFWP Malta extends its appreciation to ZIBEL for its coordination and leadership throughout the initiative. The strong team spirit shown by all participants was truly commendable, and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to a cleaner marine environment for our island.
