The celebration of World Portuguese Language Day took place on May 20, 2025, from 9:30 am to
6:30 pm at the Conde de Penafiel Palace, CPLP headquarters in Lisbon. The event, usually held on
May 5th, was postponed due to scheduling conflicts.
The theme was: "The promotion and dissemination of the Portuguese Language and the cultural diversity of CPLP Member States: from traditional experiences to digital platforms."
Dr. Marta de Carvalho, President of FMPM Portugal, attended and networked with VIPs, including
the Ambassador of Angola at CPLP, Dr. Ana Carla.
The program began with an opening session by Ambassador Armindo Brito Fernandes and included
representatives from various embassies. There were cultural moments featuring poetry, music, and a coffee break.
A round table discussion on promoting the Portuguese language followed, moderated by João Neves,
with speakers from CPLP Member States.
A networking lunch occurred prior to an afternoon session, which featured more cultural moments
and another round table on new technologies; role in language promotion.
The event included a classical guitar concert, exhibitions of Hungarian art and literature, and a
presentation of the Activity Plan for the Promotion and Dissemination of the Portuguese Language.
The concluding activity was the launch of the book "Antê óla bilá, Toti! - Until Soon, Toti.
The event joint more than 60 participants from (African Countries, Brazil, Canada, Timor-Lest Portugal and
other several European Countries. We could get amazing feedback, which can be seen at the face of the participants in the photos.
The trainees loved the experience and asked to get another opportunity to learn more, saying that it
helped them even to understand themselves and get better relationships with others and special in
their families.
It was very good to the:
● Collaboration and Partnership to Global Peace Networking as the way to spread our Organization
globally, and to learn with others how to better work with Governments and doing our activities at
those high levels.
