On May 23, 2026, Dr. Marta de Carvalho, President of WFWP Portugal, attended the artistic and literary celebration “Voice – Culture with Life: Between the Word and Silence Happens the Meeting.” The event was organized by editor, writer, and Global Women Peace Ambassador Paula OZ, who invited WFWP Portugal to present the organization, its founders, and its mission.
As part of the program, Paula OZ requested that two distinguished individuals be recognized as Global Peace Ambassadors. The first was Dr. Paulo Pinheiro, President of the Parish Council, who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and dedication in local public administration. The second was Ms. Patrícia Vicente, a writer whose sensitivity, humanism, and compassionate care for elderly residents in a nursing home have had a profound impact on many lives. The WFWP logo was also featured on the event flyer, further enhancing the organization’s visibility.
The event brought together more than 75 participants from literary, musical, academic, administrative, and social sectors. Since the opening session, led by the President of the Parish Council, was scheduled for 2:00 p.m., and the venue was approximately a three-hour drive from Lisbon, Dr. Marta de Carvalho left home at 10:00 a.m. and returned around 11:00 p.m., demonstrating her commitment to supporting the event and representing WFWP.
The program began with a spiritual music performance by Rão Kayo, followed by poetry readings and additional musical presentations. At 6:30 p.m., Dr. Marta de Carvalho was invited to the stage to deliver a presentation on WFWP, its founders, and its activities. Her speech was warmly received and frequently applauded by the audience. She was also given the honor of presenting the Global Peace Ambassador certificates to the two nominees. Approximately 80 people attended the event in person.
The program continued until around 8:00 p.m., concluding with the inauguration of a local library. Throughout the day, participants enjoyed high-quality artistic performances, inspiring literary contributions, and meaningful opportunities for dialogue and networking.
The event proved to be a valuable opportunity to increase awareness of WFWP and its activities, thanks in large part to the support of Global Women Peace Ambassador Paula OZ, who included the organization in her program for the second time. The hospitality extended by the Parish Council was exceptional and contributed to a welcoming atmosphere that strengthened the relationship between WFWP Portugal and the local community.
One area identified for improvement was time management, as several speakers and musicians exceeded their allocated time slots, resulting in a longer-than-planned program. Nevertheless, the President of the Parish Council expressed his appreciation for the recognition he received and indicated his willingness to welcome WFWP back for future activities with additional time for collaboration.
Overall, the objectives of WFWP Portugal’s participation were fully achieved. The event enhanced the organization’s visibility, strengthened existing relationships, created new networking opportunities, and contributed to a greater appreciation of the Portuguese language as a vehicle for unity, cultural exchange, and international cooperation. It also provided an excellent platform for sharing WFWP’s message of peace, dialogue, and service.
