To mark the International Day of Peace, the Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) and the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) organised a meeting entitled “The Family as an Everyday Actor for Peace,” inspired by the international theme, “Investing in Peace for All, Everywhere, Every Day.”

The event brought together several speakers who explored the vital role of families in building a culture of peace.

Brigitte Wada, President of WFWP France, highlighted how peace begins in everyday relationships, particularly within the family. Jacques Marion, President of UPF in France, Europe, and the Middle East, described the family as a “school of love,” where respect, responsibility, and care for others are learned.

Other speakers addressed the prevention of violence through education and stronger intergenerational relationships, the evolving role of families in society, and the importance of communication, active listening, forgiveness, and mutual respect in resolving conflicts peacefully. The importance of protecting victims of violence was also emphasised.

The meeting concluded with an open discussion and the presentation of Peace Ambassador certificates.

The event reaffirmed a simple but powerful message: peace begins at home. By nurturing loving relationships and educating future generations, families can help build a more peaceful, compassionate, and harmonious society.
