WFWP Portugal, Day of Peace Seminar, Odivelas, 21 Sept 2014

WFWP Portugal in partnership with the City Council and UPF held a Seminar to celebrate International Peace Day 2014. The event took place in a venue that we received through the City Council of Odivelas City with the support and encouragement of the Lord Mayor. The Seminar was attended by 55 people, from 16 nationalities. We also invited two of our Ambassadors for Peace as speakers representing their own associations: “Life Loves Me (AVA)” and “Food Alchemy (AA)”, in very good collaboration to the main theme: “Where Peace Begins”. The Seminar started with a cultural performance where our three beloved Japanese members sang three beautiful Japanese songs. The 1st panel was moderated by one our Peace Ambassadors - Dr. Manuel Gomes and there were 4 speakers: (AP – Arqtº. Manuela Henriques on behalf of the Mayor of City Council, who could not be present; National President of WFWP - Dr. Marta Rodrigues; AP- Prof. Delmar Gonçalves who is also writer and poet; and AP - Dr. Maria Candida, AVA´s President). The 2nd panel was moderated by one of our Members - Mrs. Isabel Reis, and the speakers were: Dr. Sérgio Vieira - National President of UPF; Dr. Ferreira Rosa - master coaching; our youth Member - Margarida Frazão on behalf of CARP; The farmer national leader - Dr. Liberto Silva who was invited to homage our Founder (he spoke a bit about the example of Men of Peace and how Rev Moon worked to bring peace. He also show the MBCNET video which expresses this well. Then we had another AP - Dr. Isabel Costa, President of Food Alchemy, with degree in naturopathy; she presented a whole range of vegetarian dishes and conducted a meditation session with Tibetan Bowls at the end of the event. The atmosphere was very nice and the whole program was held with great attention, respect and interest, and the presentations were very positive. We could see that Peace begins inside of ourselves as well as the importance of our role in character education for the sake of our children and the world. It was a wonderful event that opened new doors through the City Hall Institutions. May God Bless us all through our efforts and determination towards Vision 2020: Marta de Carvalho – WFWP/Portugal
