WFWP Ireland - Women's Voices Building a Shared Future

On 20 May 2026, the Belfast launch of Threads of Peace – Women’s Stories on the Future of a Shared Island celebrated the power of women’s voices in building reconciliation and shaping a shared future. Hosted by Joint Irish Secretary Lawrence Simms, the event marked the second stage of the booklet’s launch and brought together women from across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

The gathering featured inspiring contributions from community leaders, including Junior Minister Aisling Reilly MLA and Lorraine Cunningham, who reflected on the moving stories and poems captured in the publication. Supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs, the project highlights the vital role women play in fostering dialogue, understanding, and lasting peace. The event also celebrated the growing friendships and cross-border partnerships that continue to strengthen communities across the island of Ireland.
